Decay rates and survival probabilities in open quantum systems.
We provide the first statistical analysis of the decay rates of strongly driven 3D atomic Rydberg states. The distribution of the rates exhibits universal features due to Anderson localization, while universality of the time dependent decay requires particular initial conditions.
متن کاملSemiclassical mechanism for the quantum decay in open chaotic systems.
We address the decay in open chaotic quantum systems and calculate semiclassical corrections to the classical exponential decay. We confirm random matrix predictions and, going beyond, calculate Ehrenfest time effects. To support our results we perform extensive numerical simulations. Within our approach we show that certain (previously unnoticed) pairs of interfering, correlated classical traj...
متن کاملOpen Systems - Unstable Particle Decay in Medium
The problem of unstable particle decay is discussed to show how elementarity of a subsystem immersed in an infinitely larger environment is lost. The decay law, when the same kind of particles as decay product make up a thermal medium, is worked out in detail. The relic abundance of unstable particles does not suffer from the Boltzmann suppression crucial at very low temperatures, because the o...
متن کاملMultipartite quantum correlations in open quantum systems
In this paper, we present a measure of quantum correlation for a multipartite system, defined as the sum of the correlations for all possible partitions. Our measure can be defined for quantum discord (QD), geometric quantum discord or even for entanglement of formation (EOF). For tripartite pure states, we show that the multipartite measures for the QD and the EOF are equivalent, which allows ...
متن کاملTransitionless quantum driving in open quantum systems
We extend the concept of superadiabatic dynamics, or transitionless quantum driving, to quantum open systems whose evolution is governed by a master equation in the Lindblad form. We provide the general framework needed to determine the control strategy required to achieve superadiabaticity. We apply our formalism to two examples consisting of a two-level system coupled to environments with tim...
